What does NEAT stand for?

NEAT stands for “Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis” which is unplanned exercise we do in our day to day life. NEAT doesn’t include things such as a planned gym trip or playing a football match but does include things such as walking up stairs.

Where are the Glutes?

Your ‘glutes’ or your gluteal muscles, as they are more formally known as refer to the muscles in your butt. Specifically, there are three major muscles in this area, your gluteus maximus (the main, large muscle that shapes your backside), your gluteus medius and your gluteus minimus (two smaller muscles that assist the gluteus maximus in moving your body). For many of us, the glutes remain ‘inactive’ much of the time. Inactive glutes can mean the muscles are weak and are not relied on as much as they should be during physical movements. Glute activation is essentially ‘firing up’ the glutes.

My Own Personal Golf Story

Since the tender age of 9, I have played the game of golf. I have endured ups and downs like most other people who have played the fantastic yet frustrating game. But always strive to be the best I can be at it. From turning 15 years old, I have represented My home club team – Bamburgh Castle Golf Club having previously played for their junior team and making appearances for my County under 18s. To this day, I remain a category 1 amateur golfer (handicap generally flips between 3,4,5) as I don’t get to play as much as I’d hope. The Battles Of Training With Endometriosis And / Or PCOS!

Endometriosis is a gynaecological condition where endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterine cavity. Endometriosis is fuelled by the hormone oestrogen. This tissue can attach itself anywhere within the pelvic and abdominal cavity, with reports of endometriosis even found on the diaphragm (though this is very rare)! Unfortunately, the human body is not equipped to remove these tissue growths, and they continue to act as endometrial-like cells, so with every menstrual cycle, scar tissue and adhesion's can form through the release of oestrogen. This can cause a wide range of symptoms, including inflammation, bloating, pelvic pain and cramping.

Everybody has a different view on when is the most beneficial time to exercise. Many would tell you to exercise first thing in the morning before breakfast because you'll burn more fat. Others claim it's better to train in the afternoon or evening because that's when you are at your strongest. I personally exercise better in the evenings as this is when I feel I get the most out of my training sessions.
